TrueToPage maps what a book, comic, or manga attested and what its screen version kept. It is not a review site. Fidelity is not quality.

What a score means

Every title page shows six axes: plot structure, character, dialogue and voice, theme and tone, coverage, and additions restraint. Each runs 0 to 100, and higher always means more of the source is still true on screen. The composite is the plain mean of the six, printed with its method. It is a headline you can argue with. The axes, the mapping table, and the change log are the product.

Scores are editorial and sourced. They are not measured facts. Every axis note cites at least one source, and every mapping row and character trait carries a confidence. The full legend is on the method page.

Why not one number

A single percentage gets argued into meaninglessness. A film can keep every chapter and still invent a war. A series can keep the voice and lose the ending. One number hides which of those happened. Six axes and a table of rows show it.

Where the facts come from

• Production facts come from studios, trade press, and creators on the record.
• Structural comparisons are described in our own words: this chapter is this episode, this device replaced that one.
• Creator stances are time-stamped, paraphrased, and linked to the interview. People change their minds; Moore in 1987 is not Moore in 2009.
• Wikipedia and fan wikis are leads to better sources, never the authority under a score.
• We never host scripts, comic pages, or book chapters, and we never paste long passages of dialogue.
• Unpublished books are not spoiler-fact. Only the author's public comments, labelled as comments.

Cuts and editions

One adaptation is one page. Theatrical, director's, and extended cuts are a toggle on that page that recomputes coverage and emphasises the mapping rows each cut restores. Separate recreations in a different medium, such as a motion comic, are separate works.

The data

Every page renders from a JSON record with a published schema. The same records will power a phone app, so nothing on this site lives only in HTML. Canonical share URL for any title page is truetopage.com/adaptation/<edge-id>/.
